About news

If you want to change the news display, you do it simply by creating a new template-file for the display of news.

There are an example template-file in the media/scripts/ directory, news_template.tmpl. Take a look at that file, make a copy of it and modify it to your own design. Observe the comments in the file - they are markers that define where content is inserted and which parts are used for this and that. Self explanatory to a certain degree...

If you come up with a great news design, you may contribute it to be distributed with TYPO3 in the future.

If you would like to modify the TypoScript configuration used for the news display, consult the TSref document or peek in the source code file media/scripts/newsLib.inc for a list of properties. Also see the static template "plugin.tt_news".

You must include the static template "plugin.tt_news" before you can display any news.

"Startingpoint" is the page(s) from which to get the news items. Default is current page. The "Recursive" field is enabled for guestbooks. If you want a complete list of CODE's to use, please insert an element without entering any code and you'll see a help screen.
